The National Museum of Dance will be hosting an opening reception for a photography exhibition titled Dance Magic: The Photography of Richard Calmes. The guest of honor will be Richard Calmes himself! This exhibition is part of the annual ‘Art in the Foyer’ program, which highlights dance-inspired fine art.
Calmes is a trained architect, artist and an internationally recognized dance photographer. He was honored with the Atlanta Press Photographer Association Award in 1972, as well as became the official Photographer for The Southeastern Regional Ballet Association in 2006. Calmes also served as the official photographer for The Regional Dance America Convention of 2007, where he photographed dancers from 81 different companies. Calmes’ remarkable photography has been featured in many national and international magazines. His work has also been published in two successful photography books: Dance Magic and Water Dance.
Join us to celebrate the opening of the new ‘Art in the Foyer’ exhibition of Calmes’ stunning dance photographs! Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served by students from BOCES. Not only will you be able to admire his talent, but you will have the opportunity to meet Richard Calmes and listen to him discuss and share his work.
