In celebration of the The Sage Colleges’ Centennial, the Department of Arts and Letters and the dance program are pleased to welcome Tony and Emmy winning choreographer Twyla Tharp and dancers to the Russell Sage campus in Troy. The lecture and demonstration will take place on April 1, 2016 at 4 p.m. in the James L. Meader Little Theatre. This event is free and open to the public.
Currently in residence at the Catskills Mountain Foundation in Hunter and Tannersville, NY, Tharp and the company are mounting repertory works and rehearsing a new work set to Beethoven’s Opus 130. Tharp and the company will discuss the rehearsal process, the importance of remounting older works, as well as talk about the newest work, set to premiere at Saratoga Performing Arts Center in June. Audiences will learn how these works fit together and how they represent a trajectory of Tharp’s career.
