Tides of Magnets

(Alex)andra Taylor Dance, an NYC-based company together with Loose Change Dance Collective, an emerging local dance company, present Tides of Magnets. A free evening of original and restaged dance works from three different choreographers in the Henle Dance Pavilion at Union College. Loose Change Dance Collective, founded by Laurie Zabele Cawley in 2013, was formed to showcase local dancers of various ages and experiences. The group challenges the bias of what a dancer is and should be, emphasizing the dancer’s vitality and artistry, and exposes us to the concept where as we age, we shall not become invisible and marginalized. (Alex)andra Taylor Dance, founded in 2010 by Alexandra Taylor, is a project-based modern dance company that thrives on collaborative methods in making work and aims to bring its audiences relatable art through the story telling of its powerful artists. Having been a young dance student of Laurie’s over a decade ago, Alex is reuniting with Laurie to showcase works that emphasize the collaborative community these companies strive to achieve, bringing affordable and accessible modern dance to the Schenectady community and beyond.
