Dance Alliance collaborates with The Egg in Albany, NY to present pre-performance talks with the artists. These informative discussions begin at 7:15 p.m. and are held in the lobby prior to the show.
For more than 30 years, Doug Varone and Dancers has devoted itself to the humanity and virtuosity of dance, creating an expansive legacyencompassing movement, theatre, opera and film. Inspired by the 1961 movie version of West Side Story, Doug Varone and Dancers will perform a purely abstract work reimagining Leonard Bernstein’s orchestral score concentrating purely on the choreographic energy generated by its sounds and musical structure – crafting new dances, askew and off-kilter in form and vocabulary, to create a unique physical and visual environment.
The performance by Doug Varone and Dancers is made possible by Stewart’s Shops/Dake Family and the Office of Special Programs at Skidmore College as part of the Stewart’s Signature Series.
