UAlbany’s Performing Arts Center will partner its resident ensemble, Capital Duo, with the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company for an evening of live music and dance on Saturday, November 7 at 7:30pm. The program includes a premiere entitled “Shadows” to the work of Icelandic composer María Huld Markan Sigfúsdóttir whose music was previouslyheard at the UAlbany Performing Arts Center in 2020 in a program by Icelandic Ensemble Nordic Affect.
A prior collaboration between Capital Duo and ESDC will also be included on theprogram. From 2018, Boundary Behavior is set to David Walther’s “Eighth Duo” or violin and piano. The choreography explores how boundaries control and curtail movement and yet enable it when they segment, shatter, reshape and become living malleable entities. Premiering earlier this year, “Silken Threads” to a medley of Gershwin tunes will be revisited and enhanced by the presence of live music. Rounding out the program will be the two interludes performed by the Capital Duo: Smetana’s lyrical “From My Homeland” and Korngold’s intimate “In the Garden”.
Tickets for November 7 are $5-$16 in advance and $10-$21 when purchased on the day of the show. All ticket sales are made online at
