Brave New Dances

BRAVE NEW DANCES is a glimpse of the first drafts of dance theatre works created by members of Maude Baum and Company Dance Theatre and invited guest artists. These are innovative and experimental works in progress, rather than polished repertory pieces.

BRAVE NEW DANCES is a forum for choreographers to take creative chances, stretch the boundaries of their craft and to push the limits of dance theatre. Discerning questions are asked by each choreographer. Audience members are asked to think on these questions and/or other comments and questions raised by the piece. After each work, the creator and performers discuss the work with the audience.  Some juicy discussions have piqued both the choreographer and the audiences understanding  and appreciation of Dance Theatre. The performance concludes with an informal reception where audience members, guest artists, performers and choreographers mingle and continue to discuss the work!
