August Newsletter

Dance Alliance August Newsletter:

Hi dance lovers, teachers, choreographers, and supporters,

The summer of 2022 has provided some of the most exciting, inspirational, and multi-faceted dance experiences in recent memory! From New York City Ballet at SPAC to Limon, Taylor Stanley, Black Grace, and BodyTraffic (and others) at Jacobs Pillow, I celebrated the rich offerings within a short distance from my home. Knowing there is more to come later this month (BAAND Together Festival, Miami City Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago) gives me hope for an even more exciting end to summer 2022!

Take a look at the wonderful adventure Mary DiSanto-Rose and dancers experienced abroad, our organization/studio members’ plans for the weeks ahead, the ambitious return of the Egg’s dance offerings including Dance Alliance’s Prelude Talks, and more opportunities for our organization to make a difference with community outreach.

We are looking to diversify our board with Dance Alliance members who have unique talents and experiences to bring to our table. If you are interested, please email me at capitalregiondancealliance@gmail.com. Include a short bio and contact information. Many hands make light work!

Vive la danse,

Mary Anne Fantauzzi

Prelude Talks at The Egg series:  Dance Alliance will once again be presenting free talks prior to select 2022-23 performances. Dance Alliance Vice President Mary DiSanto-Rose will be coordinating moderators for this informational series. Check our calendar listing for the extensive and varied list of performers. Dates of the Prelude Talks are TBA – stay tuned!

MOVE ON!, a free Dance Alliance outreach dance program for disabled teens and adults, will begin a new Fall session at the SPAC School of the Arts on Monday, September 19 from 6:30-7:30pm. Registration is now open for either virtual or in-person participation (limit in-person is 15 participants). No dance experience necessary.  https://www.dancealliance.org/move-on/

Mary DiSanto-Rose had a marvelous time presenting workshops and performing at The Festival for the Reinstatement of the Delphic Games, May 22-28, 2022 in Delphi, Greece along with the Isadora Duncan International Institute. The five days consisted of lectures, intensive workshops, round-table discussions and outdoor performances, held on the mythical, archaeological grounds of Mount Parnassus. They were led by scholars, artists and sports specialists on the convergence of the arts and sport, inspired by the admired tradition of the original Delphic Games in the sacred landscape of Delphi. Hope some of you can join us for the next conference in a few years!

NYSDanceForce, with a coordinated effort from Toni Smith, will be mailing all Dance Alliance members the 2022-23 calendar of dance events in the Greater Capital Region area. This handy guide will contain pertinent information to fill your “dance card” for months to come! Dance Alliance has provided financial support for first class mailing and postage.
