Step Afrika! This Washington, DC based company is the first professional company dedicated to stepping. The company’s repertory includes West African traditional dance, South African contemporary & traditional dance styles, tap, slam poetry and fraternity & sorority styles of stepping. LOOKING AHEAD SAVE THE DATE~ Dancing Thru Time~ will run from Sept.30-Nov. 18. Cost is $80 for 8 weeks, $50 for any 4 classes or $15 for an individual class.
Starting Mon., September 6th, the Union College Dance Program will offer a variety of dance classes taught by Laurie Zabele Cawley (Zumba), Christine Geren (Ballet and Pilates), Miryam Moutillet (Ballet, Modern and Dance & Fitness) and Marcus Rogers (Jazz and Tap). Mondays~Modern I ~ 3:00-4:15, Ballet I ~ 5:00-6:15 and Tap II ~7:00-8:15. Tuesdays~Ballet II~ 5:00-6:30. Wednesdays ~ Ballet III 12:15-1:30, Zumba from 5:00-6:05 and a second Zumba class from 6:15-7:20. Thursdays ~Jazz I from 5:00-6:15 and Jazz II ~6:30-7:45. Fridays ~ Pilates for Performers ~1:00-2:15. For weekly training and leisure, the Dance Program also offers Dance & Fitness during lunch hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 1:15. Tuesday, September 7 at 8:15pm, West Coast Swing Fall Session starts with Johnny Martinez. The class is a four week session for students with some experience and is $60 for the four weeks. Sat., Sept. 11, 10:15-1:30, Total Body Trifecta Studio offers Cardio Caliente: Hot New Moves to Spice Up Your Cardio Classes. Taught by Mary Anne Fantauzzi and Suzi Brooks at 61 Lawerence Street, Saratoga Springs. The workshop, sponsored by the Exercise Safety Association, teaches musicality, 32 count choreography, cueing, transitions, styles of fitness choreography and the 12 basic moves of Cardio Caliente Latin aerobics. $45 before 9/1 and $50 bet. Starting Sept. 13, The National Museum of Dance’s School of the Arts is offering fall dance classes, for beginner to advanced level dancers that are 3 years of age and older, including adults. Participants can pay for a whole session or drop-in classes. Registration days are September 11 & 12, from noon to 4pm.The styles of dance offered are: creative movement, pre-ballet, ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, belly dancing, zumba, tap, ballet for boys, Irish step dancing and private instruction. The class instructors are caring dance teachers with professional dance experience who share their joy of teaching. Dancers of all shapes, sizes and ages are encouraged to participate in the programs. Each workshop will include BMC oriented anatomical instruction, guided exercises, movement, partner work and more. eba Center for Dance and Fitness is participating in the Pepsi Refresh Project in September! eba is competeing for a chance at $250,000 to create a Fitness Center by adding fitness equipment and additoinal services to the fitness classes we already offer. We have the space and the neighborhood and community need a fitness facility! We will provide circuit training equipment, bikes, ellipticals, weights, a running track, workout areas, and fitness class areas. Trainers will be available to help people develop safe workouts.
