SPAF Grant

Dance Alliance is the proud recipient of a SPAF grant of $4500 for partial funding for SARATOGA DANCES II.

This evening length program will debut at the Zankel Center on Skidmore’s Campus in the Fall of 2012. It will include four pieces set against the center’s dramatic background: a reworking of NYCB’s Justin Peck’s THE ENORMOUS ROOM to live music, a full length APOLLO, Debra Fernandez’ stunning SWAN SONG danced to live music composed by Richard Danielpour, and a NEW work by Justin Peck with costumes by NYCB’s Andrew Scordato. The live music will be performed by The Hyperion String Quartet. The theme of the evening will be The Gardens of Yaddo and the spirit of artistic collaboration. We are grateful to be collaborating with Skidmore College to make this evening happen.

Other highlights include a yet-to-be named community forum, master class, silent auction and lecture/demonstration plus Saratoga Dances original t-shirts with a special logo designed by local artist and illustrator Shawn Banner. The t-shirts will be designed to match the costumes from The Enormous Room! So, there is much to be done with regard to fund raising and audience building but we are off to a good start. Stay tuned for specific dates and fund raising opportunities. This program is made possible in part with funds from the Saratoga Program for Arts Funding (SPAF) part of the Decentralization regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), administered by Saratoga Arts.
